Accounting Assistant

Prestige Hotels & Resorts is looking for a full-time, permanent Accounting Assistant to work within their dynamic, hospitality environment. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, you will use your strong organizational and technical skills to manage the day-to-day activities of this role. This will include, but not be limited to:

  • Reviewing, verifying, and inputting vendor invoices
  • Processing and reconciling payments to vendors and company credit cards
  • Rebilling intercompany expenses
  • Completing and submitting tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, and other government documents
  • Reviewing, verifying, and inputting source data from the hotels and restaurants
  • Reconciling restaurant cash outs and tips
  • Posting journal entries and reconciling accounts
  • Preparing statistical and financial reports

A significant part of your duties will involve payroll and benefits administration, including, but not limited to:

  • Maintaining and updating employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave, and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements
  • Preparing and verifying statements of earnings for employees, including gross and net salaries and deductions
  • Preparing, verifying, and processing all payroll-related remuneration, including regular pay, vacation pay, benefits, and other payments
  • Preparing payroll-related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, Records of Employment, and other statements
  • Compiling, reviewing, and monitoring statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts
  • Preparing and balancing period-end reports and identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies

The successful candidate will have experience in payroll administration and in financial accounting. Ideally, the candidate would have a strong working knowledge of Ceridian software, Microsoft Excel and Word, and accounting software (Sage preferred). Strong communication skills are required, as well as a desire to provide excellent service to employees, clients, and suppliers.

Compensation:

Job Duties:

  • Performs guest room housekeeping duties, laundry functions, and cleans public areas on a regular basis
  • Trains and motivates housekeeping and laundry personnel
  • Collaborates with maintenance staff
  • Assists the General Manager to organize the daily functions and duties of the housekeeping department
  • Provides direction and supervision when the General Manager is absent
  • Maintains and conducts regular inventories of all supplies and equipment
  • Inspects quality of linens and advises the General Manager on purchasing requirements
  • Inspects guest rooms and public areas to ensure quality assurance
  • Conducts staff meetings in conjunction with General Manager
  • Monitors and trains with cleaning products to improve efficiencies
  • Maintains and oversees the required process to ensure regular deep cleaning and preventative maintenance

General Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Fluent in the English language (written and verbal)
  • Requires ability to select, train, evaluate, motivate, and discipline, as needed
  • Operates the department within given cost controls
  • Requires the ability to follow and give directions (verbal and written)
  • Requires the ability to work without direct supervision

Experience:

  • Previous experience in supervising others preferred
