Payroll and Benefits Administrator

Prestige Hotels & Resorts is looking for a full-time person to work within their dynamic, hospitality environment. Reporting to the Controller, you will use your strong organizational and technical skills to manage the day-to-day activities of this role. This will include but not be limited to:

  • Maintaining and updating employee information, such as records of employee attendance, leave, and overtime to calculate pay and benefit entitlements
  • Preparing and verifying statements of earnings for employees, indicating gross and net salaries and deductions such as taxes, garnishments, and insurance and benefit plans
  • Preparing, verifying, and processing all employee payroll-related payments, including regular pay, benefit payments, and special payments such as bonuses and vacation pay
  • Preparing payroll-related filings and supporting documentation, such as year-end tax statements, Records of Employment, and other statements
  • Compiling, reviewing, and monitoring statistical reports, statements, and summaries related to pay and benefits accounts
  • Preparing and balancing period-end reports and reconciling issued payrolls to bank statements
  • Identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Administers and manages employee benefits for all employees

As a member of the finance team you will also have other duties including:

  • Maintaining and balancing various general ledger accounts
  • Posting journal entries and reconciling accounts
  • Completing and submitting tax remittance forms, workers' compensation forms, pension contribution forms, and other government documents
  • Preparing other statistical, financial, and accounting reports
  • Other duties as assigned

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Experience in payroll administration
  • A background in financial accounting
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Simply Accounting or a similar accounting program
  • Strong communication skills
  • A desire to provide excellent service to employees, clients, and suppliers
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada

Reporting to the General Manager, the Convention and Sales Manager will work closely with the resort management team as well as the Prestige Hotels & Resorts sales team to drive revenues at this spectacular lakefront location. 

Located on the edge of a nature estuary with unobstructed views of Shuswap Lake, the Prestige Harbourfront Resort Salmon Arm features waterfront banquet facilities ideal for weddings and conferences, an outdoor event space for ceremonies and receptions, and 121 guestrooms.

Job Duties Include: 

  • Sell event space, guestrooms, and/or catering services through client consultations, site visits, and preparation of proposals 

  • Prospecting of potential new clients; proactive sales efforts including identifying leads, making sales calls, client visits, pursue referrals  

  • Building relationships with existing clients; always looking for opportunities to grow the account and continue to be their preferred host location  

  • Routine proactive sales efforts to achieve annual targets for catering and guestroom revenues 

  • Coordinate event details through meetings with clients to discuss requirements such as deadlines, number of guests, occasion, and to explain services offered, i.e., room capacity, decorations, menu, other venue options, etc.  

  • Make recommendations for the successful execution of the client’s event 

  • Create cost estimates, prepare contracts, banquet event orders, and obtain clients’ signature on contracts, and ensure deposits and payments are collected according to schedule  

  • Communication of event details to other resort departments; strong working relationship with the food and beverage operator and banquet team 

  • Personal attention to events as required  

  • Provide input and recommendations on marketing and sales pieces for the resort’s meeting spaces 

  • Representing Prestige at industry events, tradeshows, and/or networking events 

  • Attendance at the Annual Prestige Hotels & Resorts Convention & Sales Managers Meeting

We are looking for an awesome night owl! Join us at the Prestige Hotel Vernon as a Permanent Part-Time Night Auditor.

The Night Auditor is a key member of our Guest Services Team. Scope of Responsibility:

The Assistant General Manager works in conjunction with the General Manager in support of the leadership functions of the hotel. The Assistant General Manager will specifically perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service
  • Ensure guest satisfaction levels and standards of quality of service in addition to actively developing and implementing new systems and standards
  • Handle guest comments and complaints, ensuring guests needs are met or exceeded
  • Participate in interviewing and recruiting of all departments
  • Ensure efficient training and development of personnel
  • Give effective support to staff
  • Organize, coordinate, and conduct regular training sessions
  • Responsible for development and performance management of personnel
  • Coordinate and communicate information pertinent to other departments to ensure the highest level of guest service
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, knowledge of general crisis procedures, and keeping health and safety in the forefront
  • Ensure that all controls are in place and are adhered to (i.e., rates, market codes, etc.)
  • Coordinate preparations for incoming conventions, groups, and tours as well as all pre-arrivals, including blocking of rooms, convention resumes, special requirements, and departure activities
  • Maintain and submit to the General Manager approved staffing schedules on a weekly basis
  • Assist General Manager with facility maintenance planning
  • Ensure Prestige policies and procedures are known, followed, and enforced; promote the philosophy of empowerment within guidelines
