Don’t mind getting your hands dirty? This is the job for you. Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sooke is hiring a Maintenance Attendant to maintain and fix amenities of guest rooms and common spaces of the hotel.

This position can offer a schedule that fits your needs.

Duties:

  • Maintain and improve upon hotel guest rooms and additional public areas by performing routine maintenance jobs and repairs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve pool and hot tub mechanical issues
  • Perform hotel room repair activities (i.e., handrails, walls, doors, flooring, etc.)
  • Perform heavy lifting (i.e., move heavy furniture, remove scrap, and debris)
  • Maintain positive communication with the hotel General Manager to ensure that tasks are completed
  • Ensure friendly professional interactions with hotel guests
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Prior finishing experience required
  • A background in plumbing is helpful
  • Must be able to lift medium to heavy loads weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb)
  • Previous painting experience
  • BC Driver’s license and reliable transportation

Night Auditor / Guest Services Agent

We are looking for an amazing night owl!

The successful candidate will be responsible for the front desk as well as resort guests during the hours of 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. The Night Auditor is a key member of the Guest Services Team; responsible for the overnight operations of the resort, verifying the accuracy of guest accounts, balancing charges and revenues, as well as assisting with all aspects of guest services. The successful candidate will have a professional appearance and demeanor and be able to deal with a wide variety of people and situations.

Duties

  • Answer all in-coming phone calls in a professional manner according to company standards
  • Provide information on resort facilities and services
  • Provide general information on points of interest in the area and services in the community
  • Understand basic accounting principles including debit and credit transactions
  • Post nightly room rate and tax to guest rooms
  • Process wake-up calls
  • Balance the daily transactions to Property Management System
  • Prepare selected reports for accounting and management
  • Complete night audit process, including system shutdown, computer back-up, and system maintenance
  • Process group and guest departures, calculate charges and receive payment
  • Follow emergency and safety procedures
  • Provide security to ensure guest and property safety at night
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills
  • No Night Audit experience required
  • Customer service experience is required
  • Accounting or administration experience is an asset
  • Must be able to work overnight shifts from 11 pm to 7 am

Scope of Responsibility:

The Assistant General Manager works in conjunction with the General Manager in support of the leadership functions of the hotel. The Assistant General Manager will specifically perform the following tasks to the highest standards:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Ensure guest satisfaction levels and standards of quality of service in addition to actively developing and implementing new systems and standards
  • Handle guests comments and complaints, ensuring guests needs are met or exceeded
  • Participate in interviewing and recruiting of all departments
  • Ensure efficient training and development of personnel
  • Give effective support to staff
  • Organize, coordinate, and conduct regular training sessions
  • Responsible for development and performance management of personnel
  • Coordinate and communicate information pertinent to other departments to ensure the highest level of guest service
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures, knowledge of general crisis procedures, and keeping health and safety in the forefront
  • Ensure that all controls are in place and are adhered to (i.e., rates, market codes, etc.)
  • Coordinate preparations for incoming conventions, groups, and tours as well as all pre-arrivals, including blocking of rooms, convention resumes, special requirements, and departure activities
  • Maintain and submit to the General Manager approved staffing schedules on a weekly basis
  • Assist General Manager with facility maintenance planning
  • Ensure Prestige policies and procedures are known, followed, and enforced; promote the philosophy of empowerment within guidelines
  • All other duties as assigned

 

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Hotel experience required, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Post-Secondary Education in Hotel or Business management considered an asset
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
