HOW TO GET HERE

Adventure is always close by here. Prince Rupert is perched on the edge of the open ocean, surrounded by towering old growth forests, and has some sky scraping mountains. Lace up your hiking boots and don’t forget your GPS, buckle into your life vest and paddle to a nearby island, or just wander around Cow Bay and see what the locals are up to. You’re sure to have a good time!

Prince Rupert is steeped in history, with the Museum of Northern BC showcasing thousands of years of coastal First Nations culture and the region’s colonial past. Just 30 km away, the North Pacific Cannery National Historic Site offers a glimpse into 19th-century coastal working life. The city also features a vibrant arts scene, from the Ruth Harvey Art Gallery’s rotating regional exhibits to local artist-run studios and galleries throughout town.

Prince Rupert was built on fishing. The Tsimshian people have fostered a deep connection to the North Pacific and all it holds, and Prince Rupert has a rich history of commercial fishing and the canning industry. Today fishing is just as important, both commercially and recreationally. Didn’t bring your gear? Don’t worry! Prince Rupert has everything you could possibly need, including fishing charters. Don’t forget to pick up a fishing license before heading out.
