Prestige In Balance refers to our Corporate Sustainability Programme and is outlined below.
- Prestige Practices
All Prestige properties are Sustainable Tourism Certified by GreenStep, based on criteria recognized by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council.
We’re very pleased to state that the Prestige Harbourfront Resort Salmon Arm and the Prestige Hudson Bay Lodge Smithers proudly achieving Gold certification in 2026.
All of our remaining properties have achieved Silver status, reflecting our ongoing commitment to sustainable hospitality.
This certification measures our success in meeting a wide range of sustainability criteria and indicators that align with the UN World Tourism Organization and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. To learn more about Sustainable Tourism 2030, please visit their website.
The rigorous certification process is conducted every three years, requiring us to maintain and improve our high sustainability standards year after year. We continually work to integrate environmental practices and sustainability principles into our daily operations at each hotel and resort, with a focus on the following areas:

Fresh air is vital for the mind, body, and spirit. In keeping with our commitment to provide a healthy environment for our guests and employees, all Prestige Hotels & Resorts are 100% smoke-free properties.
At Prestige Hotels & Resorts, our guests’ comfort and experience are our top priorities. We are dedicated to offering the ultimate luxury experience while also providing opportunities for guests to engage with our sustainability initiatives. Discover ways to enjoy a more sustainable stay with us.
We are also proud to offer our “Go Green” program which allows guests to opt-out of housekeeping services in exchange for 1,000 bonus Prestige Rewards points or a $10 dining credit (varies by location) while staying with Prestige Hotels & Resorts. This program is valid for any guests staying two or more nights. To opt-in, please ask the front desk agent during check-in and they will be happy to provide more details. This reduction in housekeeping demand will not only reduce contact between our staff and your belongings, but it also helps offset our daily water, power, and detergent usage, thus reducing our environmental impact.
At Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sooke and Prestige Harbourfront Resort Salmon Arm, guests also have the option to support ecosystem restoration through our partnership with veritree. This includes planting kelp to support ocean health at Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sooke, or planting trees in British Columbia at Prestige Harbourfront Resort Salmon Arm to help restore areas impacted by wildfire.
Prestige Hotels & Resorts is proud to partner with veritree, a verified ecosystem restoration program that connects businesses with high integrity, nature-based solutions to restore ecosystems and strengthen communities.
Prestige has also partnered with companies that support our commitment to more sustainable operations daily, including Fox Fold and Apotheke.
Fox Fold is a Canadian company focused on reducing waste in guest rooms through innovative design. Their refillable tissue dispensers replace traditional cardboard boxes, plastic wrap, and partially used packs, helping reduce unnecessary waste and ensure products are fully used.
Their tissues are made from fast growing, renewable bamboo, supporting a lower impact alternative to traditional paper products.
Across all Prestige properties, refillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash from Apotheke have replaced single use bottles in guest rooms. Apotheke is a woman founded company known for plant based, vegan formulas made with thoughtfully sourced ingredients. Their products are free from parabens, phthalates, and animal testing, with recyclable packaging designed to reduce waste.
Moving to bulk amenities reduces plastic use, cuts down on excess packaging, and lowers emissions from shipping, while maintaining a high quality guest experience.
