Housekeeping Supervisor

Prestige Beach House Kelowna


Join the Prestige Beach House Kelowna as a permanent, full-time Housekeeping Supervisor and provide a great experience for our guests by ensuring guest rooms and public areas are clean and properly presented.

The Housekeeping Supervisor is a working housekeeper role who assists the General Manager plan, organize, supervise, and motivate to achieve the highest standards of cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel.

Job Duties:

  • Performs guest room housekeeping duties, laundry functions, arrival checks, and cleans public areas and conference areas on a regular basis
  • Trains, onboards, and motivates housekeeping and laundry personnel
  • Collaborates with maintenance staff
  • Assists the General Manager to organize the daily functions and duties of the housekeeping department, including scheduling
  • Provides direction and supervision when the General Manager is absent
  • Inspects quality of linens and advises the General Manager on purchasing requirements
  • Inspects guest rooms and public areas to ensure quality assurance
  • Conducts staff meetings in conjunction with General Manager
  • Monitors and trains with cleaning products to improve efficiencies
  • Maintains and oversees the required process to ensure regular deep cleaning and preventative maintenance

General Knowledge, Skill, and Ability:

  • Fluent in the English language (written and verbal)
  • Requires ability to select, train, evaluate, motivate, and discipline, as needed
  • Operates the department within given cost controls
  • Requires the ability to follow and give directions (verbal and written)
  • Requires the ability to work without direct supervision
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Experience:

  • Previous experience in supervising others preferred
  • Previous commercial or housekeeping cleaning experience required

The Sales & Catering Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all details for meetings, events & groups at the hotel are organized. This role is key to support the growth of business that supports all departments of the hotel. Administrative duties include both meeting/event and group guest rooms bookings, deposits/payments, and banquet event orders. The Coordinator plays a key role in liaising between the front desk and food & beverage department to ensure that meetings and events are successfully organized and communicated. Reporting to the General Manager, the Coordinator will work closely with the Sales Manager, Catering Department and Guest Services team. The Coordinator is trained in all duties of a Guest Services Agent to ensure a high level of guest services for all clients.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the daily requirements of catering, meeting, event, and groups clients
  • Interacts with catering clients and responds to local client inquiries
  • Plans and follows-up on contract/service agreements issued by the Sales Manager
  • Researches client leads for the Sales Manager
  • Coordinates meeting/event bookings and group hotel rooms
  • Ensures deposit and payment schedules are executed
  • Monitors accounts receivables for meeting/event accounts
  • Post meeting/event follow up
  • Prepares of banquet event orders (BEO)
  • Communicates regularly with the Executive Chef and Catering Department to review BEO’s
  • Ensures all events are properly booked and communicated with all parties.
  • Works with Sales Manager to book and block groups (Teams, Corporate, Wedding, Family, etc.)
  • Masters all front desk systems and the position of Guest Service Agent

What does an ideal candidate look like?

  • Previous catering, events, and/or sales experience
  • Strong food & beverage background
  • Previous Hotel or Resort experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and exceptional organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Works well under pressure, is able to meet deadlines in a calm manner, and can work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Prepared for a flexible schedule at times
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Compensation:

This is a full-time, permanent position that offers a flexible schedule dependent on abilities.

Duties:

  • Maintain and improve upon hotel guest rooms and additional public areas by performing routine maintenance jobs and repairs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve pool and hot tub mechanical issues
  • Perform hotel room repair activities. (i.e., handrails, walls, doors, flooring.)
  • Perform heavy lifting (i.e., move heavy furniture, remove scrap and debris)
  • Perform painting, snow removal, and light landscaping
  • Maintain positive communication with the hotel General Manager to ensure that tasks are completed
  • Ensure friendly professional interactions with hotel guests
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Prior maintenance or trades experience
  • 2 years experience in a maintenance role considered an asset
  • A background in electrical and/or plumbing is an asset
  • Must be able to lift medium to heavy loads weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb)
  • Previous painting experience
  • BC Driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
