The Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for the overseeing of housekeeping and laundry services of the hotel. Job Duties

Education

General Overview & Objectives

 

We are a well-established and successful hotel operation with an already outstanding hospitality team. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, the General Manager would be directly responsible for effectively managing and overseeing all aspects of the hotel operations including: guest relations, front desk, sales, housekeeping, maintenance, product quality, accounting, team building and staff development. This role will direct and coordinate activities of the hotel to obtain efficiency and maximize profits by performing duties personally or through direct reports.

 

Responsibilities

 

Overall Resort Management

  • Responsible for managing all aspects of the business including financial performance, reservations and customers’ enjoyment of accommodation, conferences, review and negotiation of all supply agreements, sales and marketing, human resources, and maintenance of the property.
  • Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.

Customer Service

  • Management of superior customer service of the entire organization to ensure an amazing guest experience.
  • Responds quickly to guest requests and inquiries in a friendly manner.

Sales & Marketing

  • In conjunction with executive team, responsible for the general promotion of the hotel including sales and marketing. This includes administration of the sales, marketing and sales prospecting.
  • Develops and maintains rapport with community, hospitality and travel related contacts to ensure viable presence in the local business community.

Financial Management

  • Management of all sources of revenue and expenses including accommodations, housekeeping, food & beverage, property maintenance and other departments.
  • Ensures all departments are profitable and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Responsible for all financial controls (accounting system, reporting to Executive, reservation systems control, inventory management, payment processing, etc.)
  • Create annual strategy to meet budget requirements and benchmarks throughout the year.
  • Maximizes room revenues by anticipating and planning for market shifts and also participating in appropriate and local sales/marketing programs.

Human Resources Management

  • Management of human resources functions of the resort by controlling turnover, motivating employees, focusing on employee development and retention and conducting regular employee meetings.
  • Responsible for recruitment of top quality staff.

Product Quality

  • Ensures that product quality standards are met in all areas of the resort as it relates to the appearance, levels of maintenance and cleanliness.
  • Ensures the daily quality and quantity, safety, punctuality, cleanliness, appearance, and guest satisfaction of the hotel's restaurant, lounge and function space.

Property Management

  • Responsible for overseeing property, building and equipment maintenance and repair to ensure hotel is kept in excellent condition.

Compliance with Policy and Applicable Law

  • Promotes and follows company and hotel philosophies, policies and procedures by utilizing effective communication skills with employees and guests.
  • Ensures the hotel is in compliance with all federal, provincial and local laws, including adherence to the BC Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Ensures a safe and secure environment for guests, employees and hotel assets by implementing and maintaining loss prevention and safety policies and procedures.

Other responsibilities as defined by the Executive Vice President.

 

Required Experience, Qualifications and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary education in business administration, marketing or related field or an acceptable combination of education/training and/or experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a hotel management capacity.
  • Exhibits the highest level of integrity, sound judgment, resourcefulness, management and confidence.
  • Solid financial skills/experience, including revenue management, inventory management, hotel management systems, understanding of budgets, profit and loss management, accounting and reporting.
  • Demonstrates superior written and oral communication skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational, strategic, planning and implementing skills.
  • Skillful in managing high tension situations with diplomacy, tact and patience.
  • Excellent investigative, analytical, problem-solving and strategic skills.
  • Flexible and able to respond to complex, unique and complicated situations.

Job Description

A banquet Supervisor ensures that every guest is looked after efficiently, courteously and in a friendly and professional manner in accordance with the standards set by West Coast Grill. Successful candidates will have great attention to detail and be able to demonstrate flexibility within their role. A great attitude, easily adapt to sudden changes, a problem solver and good leadership abilities are also important aspects of the job. A Banquet Supervisor will maintain a high level of integrity, service and hospitality at all times and lead by example.

 

Job Duties

  • Lead a team of staff (from 2 to 20 employees)
  • Assist organizers, brides, grooms, meeting planners, etc. with their needs
  • Make the necessary changes to floor plans and menu when required
  • Communicate with the Chef, Food & Beverage manager and operating partner on a daily basis
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Take and serve food and drink orders
  • Welcome and seat guests
  • Monitor buffet food and cleanliness
  • Control bar float and enter sales into POS system
  • Take part in management meetings on a weekly basis
  • Ensure proper banquet equipment inventory is maintained
  • Set up and tear down for large events
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Food & Beverage Manager

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to work on your feet all day and lift light to medium loads
  • Requires ability to give attention to detail and to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
  • Possess a polite, caring & enthusiastic demeanor
  • Have basic wine/liquor/beer knowledge
  • Possess strong communication skills
  • Have flexibility with scheduling (weekend and/or evening hours) and able to work on short notice
  • Ability to work independently, as well as in a team environment

Education

Must have a valid Serving it Right qualification. Level I First Aid and Foodsafe training would be an asset. High school diploma required, Hospitality or Tourism Diploma is an asset. Candidate will have performed similar duties in a similar environment for a minimum of 2 years.
