Hello, Cranbrook!

Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort + Prestige Cranbrook Hotel
Explore Like a Local.
The Kootenay experience starts here. Cranbrook sits on the traditional territory of the Ktunaxa Nation and offers a meaningful connection to both land and history. Whether you’re walking downtown or heading out for a day on the trails, there’s a quiet sense of place that stays with you.
Surrounded by forests, lakes, and mountains — including the striking Fisher Peak — Cranbrook is a great base for exploring southeastern BC. Enjoy some of the best hiking and biking routes in the region, relax by the lake, or take advantage of nearby ski hills in the winter months. In town, you’ll find excellent restaurants, local shops, and plenty of ways to unwind after a day outdoors.
Let Cranbrook be where you reconnect with what matters — nature, community, and yourself.
HOW TO GET HERE
Cranbrook is accessible from Highway 3, Highway 97, and Highway 93. Make sure you check DriveBC before you venture out. Cranbrook Rockies International Airport has major carriers like Air Canada and WestJet.
THINGS TO DO
Cranbrook is rooted in nature and grounded in culture. Some of our best days are spent on foot, hiking leisurely through the forest along creek beds. On other days, we’re testing our limits and climbing Fisher Peak. Life is about finding that perfect balance. Shred down one of our many mountain biking trails, and then enjoy a refreshing drink on one of the sun-soaked patios downtown.
HERITAGE
Cranbrook understands the importance of history and how much we can learn from it. The Cranbrook History Centre is at the core of the city. Just outside of Cranbrook, you’ll find the charming heritage town Fort Steele. See the past brought back to life with theatre shows, train rides, wagon rides, and historic trade demonstrations. If you’re looking for some exercise with your history lesson, hike out to the Fisherville Historic Site. A once bustling settlement looking for gold, it is now a ghost town.
The Ktunaxa Nation Council operates an Interpretive Centre at St. Eugene to give visitors the chance to learn and experience the rich heritage, mythology, and culture of the Ktunaxa people.
GOLF
Take your golf game into the wilderness. Cranbrook and Kimberley are home to 7 championship Kootenay Rockies Golf Courses. Our courses have unmatched scenery, with rushing rivers and towering mountain peaks.
FISHING
The fishing around Cranbrook is exceptional; there are over 50 productive trout lakes! Each lake and river has different regulations when it comes to bait use, catch and release, and allowances.
ON THE WATER
Paddle, row, or float your boat on one of our many lakes. Join Just Liquid Sports for community paddle nights!
WINTER ACTIVITIES
Welcome to the Powder Highway! Within five hours of Cranbrook, you will find over eight world-class ski resorts. Want to keep the drive short? Kimberly Alpine Resort is only 20 minutes away and offers some of the greatest runs in BC.
FOOD & DRINK
Obviously, our favourite restaurant in town is the Modern Olive, located at Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort Cranbrook, but if you’ve already visited them and want to try out another great local eatery, Cranbrook is sure to surprise you.
