As the leaves of fall drop to the ground and snowflakes make their first season appearance, you know that winter is only around the corner. There has been some snowfall in several of our communities recently and why not celebrate what’s coming by providing some enticing information on all our local ski hills!
Whether you’re a snowboarder, skier, or a snow admirer, the local ski resorts within our hotel communities have a lot to offer for all ages.
Here is a run-down of what you may want to know of each ski resort in the Prestige community to get yourself pumped for the upcoming season.
ROSSLAND:

RED Mountain
Skiing on RED Mountain often marks a visitor’s first experience of Rossland. It is one of the best ski hills in terms of “POW” and has been a local’s best kept secret for many years. It has been rated as the #1 in Powder Magazine’s “Ski Town Throwdown,” and “Most Underrated Resort” by skiing enthusiasts. The mountain delivers 2,877 acres of pristine skiing conditions which places it within the top 20 ski resorts in North America. There are over 100 marked ski runs, and RED provides amazing skiing opportunities for all ages.

NELSON:

Whitewater Ski Resort
Located within the Kootenay region of British Columbia, Whitewater Ski Resort is around a 30-minute drive from the Prestige Lakeside Resort Nelson and Prestige Inn Nelson. It is renowned for powder with over 45 feet of it a year, providing for some of the best skiing and snowboarding in British Columbia. The resort boasts over three trail maps with various levels of difficulty, challenging beginners to the advanced. The proximity of this resort relative to Nelson makes it an attractive skiing location as the town is charming and quirky, great for dining out with friends, and kicking your feet up after a long day on the slopes.

NOTE: There is a shuttle bus which runs from the Prestige Lakeside Resort Nelson from 7:55am (early run) and 8:30am (late morning run). Additionally, the shuttle also stops at our Prestige Inn property at 7:50am (early run) and 8:25am (late morning run). A return trip will cost you $11 or $7 one way. CRANBROOK:
Kimberley Alpine Resort
The Kimberley Alpine Resort is located in Kimberly, British Columbia, a 40-minute drive from the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort Cranbrook. It makes for a great day trip(or two) from our resort as the hill offers over 68 ski runs, 1800 acres of land, and a top elevation of 6500 feet. The resort offers a number of other activities apart from skiing including snowshoe tours, Fat Bike tours, and chocolate fondue tours. If you are not into the winter sports, the towns of Cranbrook and Kimberley will provide for many shopping, dining and cultural opportunities.

RADIUM HOT SPRINGS:
Panorama Mountain Resort

Located a short 35-minute drive from the Prestige Radium Hot Springs Resort, you will be skiing in no time when you stay with Prestige. The resort is conveniently located near a great variety of restaurants, retail shops, pubs and cafes, and only a 5-minute drive to the world-renowned Radium Hot Springs Pools. Panorama Mountain Resort includes over 129 trails, 10 ski lifts, the longest run of 6.5km, and over 2,975 acres of patrolled terrain, providing trails for all skill levels. For those who prefer a more relaxed adventure, snow shoeing or snow tubing are great alternatives.

GOLDEN:
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort

Kicking Horse Mountain Resort provides for a beautiful adventure while in Golden. Located a short drive from the Prestige Inn Golden, the resort features some of the most incredible views of the Kootenays region including amazing powder skiing. It holds one of the highest dining experiences in Canada whereby a single Gondola ride takes you right to the summit, providing stunning views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains. The snow experience will challenge all levels of riders, from steep chutes, to fast glades and smooth groomers. It is a fun day out for the whole family.
