Staying Green at Prestige Hotels & Resorts
Prestige Hotels & Resorts are proud to be part of the growing “going greener” movement that we believe is very important for our guests and employees so they can live, work and play in beautiful British Columbia.
Making a commitment at all levels of the organization to become more environmentally friendly is an operational decision but you also need your entire team to buy into it. It is imperative to have a shift in mindset when considering purchasing decisions, energy efficiency and the things that make up guest experience.
You may be wondering what Prestige has done to become greener. First of all, our key Green team has successfully completed two sustainability workshops with industry leader Green Step. Each one of our hotels is also Green Key certified. We have had energy assessments completed at all hotels in 2011-2012 to find out how we could become more energy efficient. We have even transitioned over some of our company vehicles to the more environmentally innovative Toyota Prius.
We are now developing a Green Initiatives Action Plan. Even though we are in the early stages, feel free to take a look at our goals.
We are excited to announce that our Best Western Premier – Oceanfront Resort in Sooke location was recently recognized as a Best Western Green award winner, and also participated in the new Green Tourism certification assessment process.
We know just how important the environmental movement is, and are actively doing our part. Providing our guests the opportunities to stay or meet in an environmentally friendly hotel is a message that we have heard loud and clear.
