The resort itself is truly special and an ideal base to explore the unique town of Nelson. Here are some ideas to get you excited about a visit to Nelson.

1. Treat yourself to the on-site spa
The resort is home to the Santosha Spa where you feel welcomed to retreat into their cozy atmosphere and enjoy an array of specialized products and services from skilled professionals. Guests of the hotel receive 10% off massages and mani/pedis when they show their room key. Being located on-site allows you to maintain your peaceful state as you wander back to your guestroom or to an on-site restaurant. Learn more about the spa by watching their promotional video.

2. Explore the town of Nelson

Visiting the town of Nelson is an adventure in itself. Nelson has big city urban amenities, coupled with an authentic small-town charm. Walking down Baker Street, a vibrant main street, you will experience the quirky vibes, authenticity, and spirit Nelson is known for. With over 350 heritage buildings, Nelson has earned a reputation as one of the finest heritage cities in Canada.

For foodies, Nelson is a place for you. With more restaurants per capita than Manhattan or San Francisco, Nelson offers fine dining, international fare or cozy cafes. Specialty stores, farmers markets, and clothing shops are just a few of the other stores in Nelson’s heritage downtown core. Several outdoor stores also sell an array of sports gear for adventure seekers. Whether you’re exploring Nelson for relaxation or adventure, you’ll find a spirit of authenticity that has slipped away from so many cities.

3. Take a dip in the lake

When the weather is nice out, the lake is the place to be. From the resort, take a ride on Nelson’s Streetcar #23 (which stops right out front of the resort) and enjoy the ride to Lake Side Park. Here you can bask in the sun at the beach with other locals and visitors. For something a little different, Nelson Paddleboard & Kayak Rentals offers kayak and stand up paddle boards to rent right from the marina in front of the Prestige Lakeside Resort. Don’t forget to use your Prestige Rewards card for a 10% discount on rentals! Simply sign up for Prestige Rewards at the front desk, and enjoy the perks.

4. Experience White Water Rafting

Nelson Whitewater Rafting Co offers two different tours both enjoying the pristine wilderness of Nelson while discovering the beauty and the rapids of the Slocan River. The Facchina Rapids Whitewater tour is for ages 5 and up and takes you on class II & III rapids. Otherwise, for a more relaxing experience, enjoy a Scenic Float Tour to soak in the beautiful scenery of the West Kootenay by raft. Click here for more information.

5. Hike Pulpit Rock

A moderate hike for rewarding views over the town of Nelson. It is a steep climb (elevation gain of 330 meters) of 3.2 kilometers round trip which is sure to get the heart racing from early on. Luckily, the hike is surrounded by a canopy of trees which brings in much-welcomed shade along the trail. It is well maintained and well signposted and has a moderate rating but still kid and pet-friendly. The hike is well worth the incredible panoramic views from the top and is a must do hike when in Nelson.

6. Come for the snow season

The resort boasts over three separate trail sections with various levels of difficulty, challenging beginners to the advanced. Additionally, the Nelson Nordic Club also offers amazing maintained trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing. Click here for more details.
