152 Km of Fun! Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo

It seems that the barrage of sporting and outdoor activities is never ending in BC, but we certainly aren’t complaining! With plenty of long, winding roads weaving their way through the lush trees and mountains of our home province, it comes as no surprise that cycling is a popular pastime for locals and that cyclists come from throughout the northwest to take part in our races and events.

On Saturday, September 7th, the 2nd Annual Kootenay Rockies Gran Frondo will welcome cycling tourists to the Cranbrook region for a memorable ride. The full Gran Fondo is an impressive 152km, but there is also a Medio Fondo (102km) and a Piccolo Fondo (57km) for those who are looking for a little less intensity.

Perhaps most impressive is the fact that the Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo is a non-profit fundraiser, organized by the Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club and presented by Taylor Adams Chartered Professional Accountants. This year, funds raised will help support the Cranbrook-Kimberley Rails to Trails Society and some of the other great community projects in this region.

While going for a 152km bike ride isn’t everyone’s idea of a great time, for cycling enthusiasts, the Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo is a can’t-miss event.

We look forward to welcoming some of these enthusiastic cyclists to the Prestige Rocky Mountain Resort, where they will no doubt enjoy their warm baths and a much-deserved good night’s sleep.
