Earlier this year, Prestige launched its Prestige Property of the Month promotion with a goal of sharing more information on each of our locations and for you to enjoy the wonders that BC has to offer. And if we can help get you there by giving you two nights on us, even better. So far, we have had the privilege to give three winners their prizes at respective properties however, we are nowhere near done. For the month of June, we are showcasing the Prestige Mountain Resort Rossland and offering the winner a complimentary two night stay with a $50 dining credit towards Gabriella’s Restaurant!

The Prestige Mountain Resort, located in the quaint mountain town of Rossland, offers a comfortable stay with a variety of rooms to suit any travelers needs. Guests can dine in at the newly renovated Gabriella’s Restaurant offering an array of flavourful Italian dishes that may even be the best Italian cuisine you have tasted. With a small population of under 4k, no traffic lights or shopping malls, Rossland really is a small town – but don’t let that stop you from adventuring that way. This small town offers big opportunities for fun, outdoor recreation, and it has an awesome craft beer and dining scene. It is evaluated at 1023 meters, making Rossland one of Canada’s highest cities. With an average annual snowfall of 750 centimeters at RED Mountain, Rossland has a renowned reputation for powder skiing even resulting in New York Times to rank Rossland #8 of the “The 46 Places to Go in 2013.” However, not just a winter town, Rossland offers year-round activities for any traveller ready to either kick off their shoes or tie them up for some outdoor exploring.

Here are some great activities easily accessible from the resort to do whether you are a winter wander or a summer seeker:

1. Visit RED Mountain Resort

The most iconic of all activities would be the amazing skiing and snowboarding opportunities at RED Mountain. It is only a short 5-minute drive from the Prestige Mountain Resort Rossland, or you can utilize the complimentary shuttle bus departing from the Resort daily during winter. It is rated as a top 20 ski resort in North America and holds over 100 marked runs which cover all abilities levels, perfect for the whole family. For more information, click here.

​Before we move on, note that not all the fun is held during the snow season at RED. RED is popularly used all year long with mountain biking and hiking being the top activities on the mountain during the warmer months.

2. Explore the town of Rossland

​Rossland is a cute, quaint town and wandering through local pubs and ​​​restaurants is another great way to spend some time. There are plenty to choosefrom while making stops at local boutique shops, sporting stores, provideperfect browsing opportunities.

3. Strawberry Pass in Rossland

​The Strawberry Pass Summit is a public area in high altitude mountains located about 20 minutes from Rossland. There are numerous groomed trails that lead you to unique cabins scattered around the area. In summer, you can enjoy the area by hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding. ​Winter is popular for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the trails. The trails allow you to choose between an easier, shorter walk, or if you are feeling more adventurous, there are longer, challenging trails. Currently, there are 8 cabins all built with funds raised bydonations, and volunteers that provide shelter and a perfect spot for a lunch break. Each cabin is equipped with a stove, allowing you to heat up a sandwich so make sure to bring a packed lunch. Finally, don’t forget to leave your name in the guest book within each cabin. The area is free to use however, as maintenance is funded by donations, please remember to leave a token of your appreciation in the donation box.

4. Mountain Biking

​With a deep history of biking, Rossland is one of the founding bike ​​destinations in BC and is also known as the Mountain Biking Capital of ​​Canada. Rossland has full-time, paid trail crew that maintain and label ​​over 200 kms of trails.
​The extensive single-track system and variety of rides lure adventurers ​​from all over the world. Novices to experts will certainly find something to ​suit their skills. All trails are well-marked with signs, and are rated for ​​various levels: gentle, intermediate, advanced and expert. Whether ​​seeking a short loop, an all-day, or a multi-day bike trip, riders will find ​​first-rate routes and magnificent scenery in Rossland. 5.Golfing

​Alpine golf courses are some of the most gorgeous places to play in the ​​world, with challenging holes and views that can rival some of the best ​​courses. Rossland offers two renowned course a short drive from town.

​Try out the Kootenay Golf Trail and be set among the towering mountain ​​ranges, shimmering lakes and pristine valleys for memorable and ​​​affordable golf. 6.Zip Lining with Kokanee Mountain Ziplining

​​Kokanee Mountain Ziplining provides fully guided 2 – 2.5 hour ziplining tours for all ages! Set in Kokanee Creek Canyon with 6 ziplines, guests can reach speeds up to 100Km/hr on lines 300+ feet high and up to 2400 feet long. 7. Fishing

There are many great spots for fishing around Rossland. You have an array of options with over 21 lakes that can be fished at in Rossland. 8. Watch a theatrical show with the Golden Fever Follies (July 1 to August 24)

A unique show which is held every year in town by local performers over the summer season from July 1 to August 24, the Golden Fever Follies never disappoints. If you plan on visiting Rossland during this period, this is a show not to be missed as each year it changes and incorporates a bit of the history of Rossland providing both an educational and enjoyable experience.
