The Farmers’ Market is open every Saturday, year-round, where you can discover a plethora of local products. Enjoy a picnic at Cottonwood Island Nature Park
Walking trails galore, amazing views, and dog-friendly. Bring your camera and enjoy the viewing platforms over the Nechako river. Discover the beautiful hidden carvings on some of the massive cottonwood trees. See how many kinds of wildlife you can spot. Bring a lunch, and enjoy on one of the picnic tables, benches, or covered areas. Don’t forget a snack for your fur-baby!

Choo-Choo-Choose the Prince George Railway Museum
Harken back to an era when the region depended on the railway and BC’s forestry industry was brand new. Buildings, locomotives, railcars, and artifacts – your kids (and likely your significant other) will love the hands-on, climb-aboard experiences offered by the Railway Museum. There’s even a mini rail train ride!

Go Fishin’
Did you know there are over 1,600 lakes, rivers, and streams surrounding Prince George? It doesn’t matter if you’re an expert with your own gear and a boat, or a total novice – there are plenty of options to choose from. Shane Lake is fantastic for beginners and families. No boat necessary as you can fish directly from one of their docks. If you’re feeling more adventurous, try some heli-fishing with Northern Outback Adventures!

They also feature a patio with fire tables and an outdoor curling rink in the winter! Tip: Pick up a growler to enjoy while watching the Northern Lights on Teapot Mountain!

See the Northern Lights
With ideal viewing from mid-September to mid-March, the Northern Lights are an awe-inspiring and humbling experience you’re sure to never forget. The lights are easiest to spot on a clear night in the wee hours of the morning, away from any sources of light pollution. The highest peak in the area is Teapot Mountain, where the conditions are ideal for viewing this spectacular occurrence. To make it truly unforgettable, camp overnight and take in the sunset and sunrise as well!

Bonus Activity: Say Hello to Mr. PG!
Towering at 8 meters (27 ft) Mr. PG is Prince George’s official mascot. Representing the friendly people of Prince George and the forestry industry, he’ll be hard to miss as you roll into town. Stop and get a photo, and on your way out he’s sure to appreciate a honk and a wave!
