We here at Prestige Hotels and Resorts wish all of you a fantastic holiday and want to share what we’ve been up to for our guests and our communities this season. We are proud of the communities we are in and do our best to give back throughout the year, and with properties in so many places across BC we thought we’d highlight a few that are getting into the holiday spirit.
Prestige Oceanfront Resort Sooke
Our gingerbread house competition is a huge success thanks to the support of the Sooke community. Entries were made in the categories of Adults, and Kids Under 12, for a chance to win a night’s stay with a $100 GC for West Coast Grill or Christmas Goody bag respectively. Donations were accepted for votes cast and all proceeds went to the local Sooke food bank.
On Christmas Eve guests will be able to enjoy a cozy get together in the lobby with hot chocolate, hot apple cider, and fresh baked cookies. A certain bearded man in a red suit may even make an appearance to read a few stories before making his journey around the globe to deliver gifts. We’re hoping he leaves a few surprises for our younger guests as well.
Prestige Lakeside Resort Nelson
The gingerbread house competition went well again this year with the community coming together for the annual Winter Kick Off from November 24th to December 2nd. The decorated houses were excellent and everyone had a lot of fun! Entries were made in the categories of Adults, and Kids Under 12, for a chance to win a night’s stay and $100 GC for West Coast Grill or Christmas Goody bag respectively. Donations were accepted for votes cast and all proceeds went to the local Nelson Food Cupboard.
Jana Cook with Fair Realty presented the 6th Annual Breakfast with Santa hosted at the Prestige Lakeside Resort Nelson and West Coast Grill on December 17th. We collected non-perishable food items and monetary donations in exchange for a hot buffet breakfast. Activities, door prizes and entertainment were all a part of the event with everyone encouraged to wear their pajamas and onesies. Thanks to all of the community sponsors that partnered with Jana Cook, Prestige Hotels and Resorts and West Coast Grill in making this happen.
Vernon Lodge (a Prestige property)
The Vernon Lodge played host to the Festival of Trees for the North Okanagan Columbia Shuswap. Each tree represents a contribution made to the United Way from a local business. Voting is done by donation with a minimum payment of $5 for each vote cast. It is always such a nice way to brighten up the Lodge and give back to the community.
Best Western Cranbrook (owned by Prestige)
At the Best Western Cranbrook we’ve been collecting food donations all season for the local food bank. We might keep our box out for a bit longer due to the great favour it has garnered from our guests.
Prestige Hudson Bay Lodge Smithers
The Hudson Bay Lodge participated in the Festival of Trees in Smithers with their glamourous gold and blue decorated tree and amazing gift package valued at $2,285 which included a brown sofa club chair with ottoman, stays at various Prestige properties, treats, white cotton robes, the fully decorated tree and MORE. Sale of our tree and others donated by the generous businesses in the Smithers community went towards the Bulkley Valley Child Development Center and the Salvation Army.
Prestige Treasure Cove Prince George
In Prince George we’re getting into the holiday spirit with a special visit from Santa himself! “Smile & Pause with Santa Claus” will take place Friday the 22nd of December. Santa is taking time out of his busy schedule to go to the Prestige Treasure Cove for a brief visit from 3 pm – 7 pm. Complimentary photos will be provided by Cassidy Tayler Photography! Hot chocolate and baked goods will be available by donation with all proceeds going to AiMHi – Prince George Association for Community Living. Bring the whole family!!
Prestige Harbourfront Resort Salmon Arm
In Salmon Arm we’ve been helping the city get into the holiday spirit by participating in the annual downtown tree decorating. It is an initiative put on by the Downtown Salmon Arm Association to help spice up the downtown core. The local forestry farm had graciously donated 27 trees that were then sponsored for decoration by local businesses. We sponsored a tree and decorated it with a bit of Prestige flare. This initiative really brightens up this awesome community!
Our friends at the Sandbar Restaurant are doing their annual food drive to help out the Salmon Arm Women’s Shelter and local food bank. We encourage everyone to donate and continue to keep that spirit of generosity going throughout the year.

Our corporate office takes the time to help those less fortunate this year by handing out hot chocolate and cookies in partnership with the Gospel Mission.
