34th Annual Fall Okanagan Wine Festival Takes Over The Valley

With a truly amazing assortment of events, the 2014 Fall Okanagan Wine Festival gets underway on October 3rd. The 10 day festival, which is produced by the Okanagan Wine Festivals Society, is now in its 34th year and it’s easy to see why it is such a resounding success.

The calendar of events features an incredible selection of experiences that are happening throughout the Okanagan Valley over the course of ten days, from October 3rd to 13th. While the Fall Okanagan Wine Festival officially gets underway on October 3rd, the wine-loving fun begins on October 1st with the British Columbia Wine Awards and Reception at Kelowna’s Laurel Packinghouse. This is where the province’s best wines and wineries will receive their newest accolades, and attendees will also be able to sample wines too!

Some of the great Signature Events include:

  • The WestJet Wine Tastings in Kelowna
This is probably the most popular event of the Fall Okanagan Wine Festivals and it is a sell-out every year. If you already have your ticket, you can look forward to sipping some 250 wines from 60 Okanagan wineries while a live band entertains you!
  • Alexis de Portneuf presents: The Young Chefs in Kelowna
This fun event will see 10 chefs with less than 10 years experience compete for the title of Top Young Chef. Featuring cheese from Alexis de Portneuf, a cheesemaker from Quebec, the event will be a lot of fun and guests will sip some fine Okanagan wine with their cheesy dishes.
  • Valley First Grand Finale Consumer Tastings in Penticton
This annual event is undergoing a rebrand this year, with all kinds of fun things to make your night memorable. New features of the event include short seminars, a Pinot Bar, and a sensory smell test, among other things. Oh, and of course a whole lot of wine. More than 70 wineries will be on hand to offer up some 300 Okanagan wines!

There’s so much going on, including smaller events at wineries and partners throughout the Okanagan Valley, so we highly recommend checking out the calendar of events.

Over the course of its history, the Fall Okanagan Wine Festival has developed a reputation as a phenomenal event, and 2014 promises to add to that reputation.
